Pictured are Limitorque SMB actuators close coupled to HBC worm gearboxes, these actuators are operating radial gates via cable drums with “slack rope detection devices” This job was version “2” Limitorque actuators were quoted, however lost to our competitor, soon after our competitor’s actuators wouldn’t raise the gates, we were re-engaged to provide the solution. The original construction of the Goulburn Weir began in 1887 and was completed in 1891. The Goulburn Weir was the first major diversion structure built for irrigation in Australia, such was the regard for the structure, it appeared on the reverse of the Australian half sovereign and ten shilling from 1913 to 1933. The upgrade pictured below was completed in 1986, all actuators are all in service today.
