A Victorian Recycled Water Plant that uses a form of the activated sludge treatment method. This is a form of biological treatment and is used to remove organic material and nitrogen from the sewage. Activated sludge treatment, introduced over 80 years ago, is one of the most common sewage treatment processes in use world-wide.
Acrodyne were commissioned to replace an LY2001 with an electrical fault that was deemed to be uneconomical to repair. The actuator was critical to the aeration process which actuated an 8” modulating plug valve.
Although the LY2001 needed to be replaced it had previously performed over an amazing 25yrs of loyal service.
The most important aspect of the LY2001 replacement is that it required an extremely quick turnaround and needed to be completed and installed within 48hrs.
The key was to perform site measure up and for the experienced technicians in the QRC (Quick Response Centre) build a Limitorque QX4 3 phase 415vac complete with 4-20mA input and output and fit seamlessly onto the existing valve hardware that it was replacing.
- Provide additional paint protection for aggressive environment – clear coat only
- Sizing based on 600 starts per hour
- Additional OB relays added
- Actuator Base with an ISO F14 that fits to existing extension spindle
- Bore and key the drive bush
Even with the short and demanding time frame, Acrodyne’s committed staff were able to exceed the customer’s expectations. The actuator was fitted successfully, delivered, mounted on-site without complications and the plant’s aeration process is operating back to capacity.
